Job Summary

Join Walter Rose & Son Ltd, a renowned multi-award winning catering and retail butcher known for its exceptional quality and sustainable meat products. We are currently looking for a dedicated Night Porter to join our team. As a Night porter, you will play a crucial role in supporting our master night butchers by cleaning, organizing prep areas throughout the night food production, preparation, and ensuring adherence to strict food safety standards. Hours to be worked from 10pm to 6am.

Responsibilities

  • Clean and sanitize all areas used for preparation, including floors, walls, work surfaces, sinks, utensils, tubs/trays. Sweep and clean floors as needed.
  • Organize food and other items in the stockroom, and keep refrigerators, freezers, and storage areas clean and organized.
  • Follow food safety protocols and guidelines to ensure the highest quality standards.
  • Receive and unpack deliveries and place them in the appropriate location.
  • Take out the rubbish, organise and tidy yard area.
  • Crush boxes.
  • Follow the directions of butchers to complete additional tasks as necessary.
    Work in alignment with the company’s commitment to sustainability and quality.

Skills

  • Prior experience as a cleaner is desirable but not essential.
  • Knowledge of food safety practices is desirable but not essential.
  • Full training will be given.
  • Strong communication skills.

Job Summary

Walter Rose and Son Ltd have developed a highly customer-focused team to help deliver our products to commercial and private customer across the country. Our fleet of circa 30 vans are out on the roads 6 days a week to ensure our customers enjoy our exceptional products.

We are currently seeking a Van Driver to join our expanding team of delivery drivers. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving from Devizes to Cornwall, drop the bulk of the orders off at a depot, then make a few deliveries on the way back. Tuesday – Saturday.

  • Full time 40 hours per week – Start 4am. 5 days.
  • Tuesday to Saturday.
  • Must have a full UK driving license with no more than 3 points.

Responsibilities

  • Daily completion of Vehicle checks before starting your journey – as per app on mobile phone provided.
  • Safely operate a commercial van to deliver goods to customers
  • Daily checks of drivers notice board for any updates including rota, route allocation and van service/repair schedule.
  • Daily completion and return of driver’s route sheet and receipt book.
  • Check orders against invoices to ensure order on the van are complete before starting your route.
  • Taking responsibility for company property and ensuring the return of delivery crates used each day.
  • Always driving safely and courteously, within speed limits and in line with current UK legislation.
  • Being the face of Walter Rose, offering excellent customer service.
  • Regularly checking for message or phone calls from management on your company mobile.
  • Ensuring you follow company procedure of deliveries, including the returns procedure.
  • Reporting concerns regarding your assigned vehicle to management.
  • Following company procedures for any driving related incidents.
  • Drivers are expected to be smart, wearing uniform supplied and ensuring good hygiene.

  • Proven experience as a delivery driver or in a similar role is desirable

Role and Responsibilities

Walter Rose and Son’s Butchers are seeking are excited to offer a role for an aspiring butcher developing new skills in the catering business providing on-the-job training to enter the world of butchery. Your role as a Butchery Assistant will be multi-varied, ranging from preparation and labelling to the organisation of workspaces for the following shifts. This role offers an engaging environment to work alongside our award-winning establishment with like-minded individuals devoted to providing the best service possible to our highly respected clientele. In joining our expansive team, we have recently invested in the construction of a state-of-the-art cutting plant soon to be completed within the next year, allowing for keen employees to grow with the business as we build towards the future of the company.

Responsibilities

  • Safe food handling of raw produce. On-the-job training will be provided.
  • Preparation of raw meat, utilizing food manufacturing equipment such as vacuum-packing machinery.
  • Thorough organisation of stock with rotation, labelling, and hanging processes.
  • Maintaining clean standards of practice, throughout and at the end of shifts.
  • Follow-through supervision checks by supervisors to ensure that all tasks have been completed to expected standards.
  • Working in a cold-ambient environment.

Key Skills

  • Punctual and driven self-motivator, able to complete tasks in a consistent and time-efficient manner.
  • Good verbal communication and teamworking skills.
  • Good personal level of grooming and professional presentation
  • Previous food handling experience (desired but not required)

Experience

  • No previous experience necessary.
  • Working hours are 5 days a week, Monday to Saturday, 8am until 4pm.
