Role and Responsibilities
Walter Rose and Son’s Butchers are seeking are excited to offer a role for an aspiring butcher developing new skills in the catering business providing on-the-job training to enter the world of butchery. Your role as a Butchery Assistant will be multi-varied, ranging from preparation and labelling to the organisation of workspaces for the following shifts. This role offers an engaging environment to work alongside our award-winning establishment with like-minded individuals devoted to providing the best service possible to our highly respected clientele. In joining our expansive team, we have recently invested in the construction of a state-of-the-art cutting plant soon to be completed within the next year, allowing for keen employees to grow with the business as we build towards the future of the company.
Responsibilities
- Safe food handling of raw produce. On-the-job training will be provided.
- Preparation of raw meat, utilizing food manufacturing equipment such as vacuum-packing machinery.
- Thorough organisation of stock with rotation, labelling, and hanging processes.
- Maintaining clean standards of practice, throughout and at the end of shifts.
- Follow-through supervision checks by supervisors to ensure that all tasks have been completed to expected standards.
- Working in a cold-ambient environment.
Key Skills
- Punctual and driven self-motivator, able to complete tasks in a consistent and time-efficient manner.
- Good verbal communication and teamworking skills.
- Good personal level of grooming and professional presentation
- Previous food handling experience (desired but not required)
Experience
- No previous experience necessary.
- Working hours are 5 days a week, Monday to Saturday, 8am until 4pm.
